HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate ALDI, Inc. on being selected as the 2015 "Retailer of the Year" by the Illinois Retail Merchants Association; and

WHEREAS, ALDI, Inc. is the nation's low-price grocery leader; it operates more than l,400 stores in 32 states, including almost 200 stores in Illinois; customers can expect to find more than l,300 of the most commonly purchased items sold under ALDI exclusive brands for prices up to 50% less than traditional supermarkets; and

WHEREAS, ALDI, Inc. exemplifies efficiency by eliminating overhead costs through smart practices, such as a cart rental system, through which shoppers insert a quarter to release a cart and then receive the quarter back upon the carts's return; other cost-saving practices include a smaller store footprint, open carton displays, and the encouragement of customers to bring their own shopping bags; ALDI, Inc. also saves shoppers money by keeping its stores open during prime shopping times; and

WHEREAS, ALDI, Inc. will be honored during IRMA's annual Retailer of the Year Luncheon in Chicago on October 1, 2015 at the Palmer House in Chicago; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate ALDI, Inc. on being selected as the 2015 "Retailer of the Year" by the Illinois Retail Merchants Association and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to ALDI, Inc. as an expression of our esteem and respect.
