HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate West Chicago Community 
4High School Theatre on being selected to represent the United 
5States in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland in the 
6summer of 2016; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the world's 
8largest performing arts
festival with more than 44,000 
9performances each festival; the 2016 festival will be its 70th 
10anniversary; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, West Chicago Community High School Theatre, led by 
12director Mark Begovich, was  nominated for the strength of their 
13productions and history of public service for such
programs as 
14Adopt-a-Sailor, Toys for Tots, Broadway Cares, and more; they 
15were selected after the program was reviewed by the American 
16High School Theatre Festival Board of
Advisors, college theatre 
17professors from around the country; and
  
 
  
18    WHEREAS, The American High School Theatre Festival has been 
19representing the United States at the Edinburgh Fringe
Festival 
20since 1994 and is now the largest sponsor of theatre at the 
21Fringe Festival; and

1    WHEREAS, The theme of the 2015-2016 West Chicago Community 
2High School Theatre season is "Character
Counts"; therefore, be 
3it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6congratulate West Chicago Community High School Theatre on 
7being selected to represent the United States in the Edinburgh 
8Fringe Festival in the summer of 2016; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to West Chicago Community High School Theatre as an 
11expression of our esteem and respect.
