| 2 | | WHEREAS, There is a critical need in the United States to |
| 3 | | instill in the minds of students the possibilities unleashed by |
| 4 | | education and innovation in the fields of Science, Technology, |
| 5 | | Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) by providing students, |
| 6 | | their teachers, and their parents with deep exposure to and a |
| 7 | | sustainable experience with companies and organizations that |
| 8 | | provide career paths in these specialized fields; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, PepsiCo is partnering with STEMconnector and |
| 10 | | other companies and organizations across the United States, |
| 11 | | including NASA and Teach for America, to address the need for |
| 12 | | encouraging youth to pursue STEM degrees and careers; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, As a strong supporter of STEM education, PepsiCo |
| 14 | | will host students, teachers, and parents in October of 2015 at |
| 15 | | its PepsiCo facility to provide career visibility, honor |
| 16 | | teachers, share insights into a real business environment, |
| 17 | | provide learning about innovation science, and engage parents; |
| 18 | | therefore, be it

| 19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 20 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 21 | | recognize the date of October 19, 2015 as STEM Career |
| 22 | | Accelerator Day and commend the students from Hancock High |
