| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Wes Lujan on the occasion |
| 4 | | of being promoted to the position of Vice President of Public |
| 5 | | Affairs for the Western Region of the Union Pacific Railroad; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Wes Lujan earned his Bachelor of Arts in History |
| 8 | | with Honors from Chicago State University in 1997 and his |
| 9 | | Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern |
| 10 | | California in 1999; he completed the University of Chicago's |
| 11 | | Executive Development Program in 2011; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Wes Lujan has continuously served as a legislative |
| 13 | | advocate in multiple states since 1999; prior to his promotion, |
| 14 | | he served as the Assistant Vice President of Public Affairs for |
| 15 | | the Union Pacific Railroad in Illinois, Wisconsin, and |
| 16 | | Minnesota, where he has represented America's largest class one |
| 17 | | freight railroad before legislatures and communities in the |
| 18 | | upper Midwest; he previously served as Union Pacific's Director |
| 19 | | of Public Affairs in Northern California and Nevada and was the |
| 20 | | Director of Public Affairs in Illinois from 2010 to 2012; he |
| 21 | | also serves as the principal liaison for the Metra Commuter |
| 22 | | Railroad in Chicago; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Prior to his work for the Union Pacific, Wes Lujan |
| 2 | | served as a contract lobbyist at Advocation, Inc., where he |
| 3 | | represented numerous local governments, developers, Blue Chip |
| 4 | | corporations, and various transportation companies before the |
| 5 | | California State Legislature; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Wes Lujan has served as the Chairman of the |
| 7 | | Illinois Railroad Association and was a member of the Illinois |
| 8 | | State Chamber Board of Directors; he was a member of the |
| 9 | | Chicago Cook Workforce Investment Board, the Chicago |
| 10 | | Metropolitan Agency for Planning Policy Committee, the |
| 11 | | Illinois Freight Advisory Council, and the Minnesota Regional |
| 12 | | Railroads Association; he was also a member of the Abraham |
| 13 | | Lincoln National Heritage Coalition Board of Directors; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Wes Lujan quickly became a valued and well-liked |
| 15 | | member of the advocacy corps on the rail in Springfield and all |
| 16 | | across Illinois; his calm and respectful demeanor will be |
| 17 | | missed and hard to replace; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Wes Lujan was named an inaugural member of the "40 |
| 19 | | Under 40" list of young professionals by the Sacramento |
| 20 | | Business Journal in 2010; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, In his free time, Wes Lujan enjoys spending time |
| 22 | | with his wife, Jenn, his son, Caleb, his daughter, Molly, and |

| 1 | | his 2 Great Danes; therefore, be it
|
| 2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 3 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 4 | | congratulate Wes Lujan on the occasion of being promoted to the |
| 5 | | position of Vice President of Public Affairs for the Western |
| 6 | | Region of the Union Pacific Railroad and wish him continued |
| 7 | | success and happiness in the future; and be it further
|
| 8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 9 | | presented to Wes Lujan as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
