HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Carlson's in Wheaton on 
4the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Carlson's originally opened in a barn on the far 
6east end of Front Street in downtown Wheaton in 1915 by Lydia 
7and Anton Carlson; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Ken Carlson, part of the third generation of 
9Carlsons at the store, runs the 3 locations alongside family 
10members, Mark, Keith, Allen, and Linda; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, As competition increased from Internet shopping, 
12Carlson's has focused on providing  the personal touch, being 
13part of the community, and building relationships with its 
14customers; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The fourth generation Carlson, Bryan, who has 
16worked at the store for 19 years, will soon be running things; 
17and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Carlson's will celebrate its anniversary on 
19September 10, 2015 with a party in its outdoor garden space;

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3congratulate Carlson's on its 100th anniversary and we wish 
4them many more successful years; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to Carlson's as an expression of our esteem and 
7respect.
