| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Tom
Kavicky on the |
| 4 | | occasion of his retirement as Safety Director and Assistant to |
| 5 | | the President for
the Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters; |
| 6 | | and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Tom Kavicky was appointed as Safety Director in |
| 8 | | 1998 and as Assistant to the
President for the Chicago Regional |
| 9 | | Council of Carpenters in 2001; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his 45 years of service, Tom Kavicky |
| 11 | | was instrumental in establishing
relationships inclusive of |
| 12 | | union and non-union contractors which were critical to the |
| 13 | | success of
the safety program and ensuring safe working |
| 14 | | conditions; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his service for the Chicago |
| 16 | | Regional Council of Carpenters, Tom
Kavicky served in the |
| 17 | | Office of Trustee for Millwright Local 1693 and was a |
| 18 | | Millwright and
Welding instructor and assistant coordinator |
| 19 | | for the George Vest Carpenter Apprentice and
Training Program; |
| 20 | | and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Tom Kavicky's influence and service extended |
|

| 1 | | beyond the boundaries of Millwright
Local 1693 and the Chicago |
| 2 | | Regional Council of Carpenters, including serving as Liaison to |

| 4 | | offices, United States Department of Labor
Delegate to the |
| 5 | | Tri-National Tripartite Construction Conference, |
| 6 | | Representative to the Illinois
Department of Labor, |
| 7 | | Representative to the Illinois Department of Health, Executive |
| 8 | | Board
Member of the Chicago Area Committee on Occupational |
| 9 | | Safety and Health, and Employee
Representative to the |
| 10 | | Occupational Safety and Health Administration Advisory |
| 11 | | Committee for
Construction Safety and Health in Washington, |
| 12 | | D.C. from 2004 to 2012; and

| 13 | | WHEREAS, Tom Kavicky is a well-respected member and an |
| 14 | | expert in his trade; therefore, be it
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 16 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 17 | | congratulate
Tom Kavicky on his retirement and wish him |
| 18 | | continued success and happiness
in the future; and be it |
| 19 | | further

| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to Tom Kavicky as a symbol of
our esteem and respect.
