| 2 | | WHEREAS, Giving Tuesday was established as a national day |
| 3 | | of giving on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Giving Tuesday is a celebration of philanthropy |
| 5 | | and volunteerism where people give whatever they are able to |
| 6 | | give; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Giving Tuesday is a day where citizens work |
| 8 | | together to share commitments, rally for favorite causes, build |
| 9 | | a stronger community, and think about other people; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, It is fitting and proper on Giving Tuesday and |
| 11 | | every other day to recognize the tremendous impact of |
| 12 | | philanthropy, volunteerism, and community service in the State |
| 13 | | of Illinois; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to encourage |
| 15 | | citizens to serve others throughout this holiday season and |
| 16 | | during other times of the year; therefore, be it
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 18 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 19 | | designate December 1, 2015 as Giving Tuesday in the State of |
| 20 | | Illinois and encourage all citizens to join together to give |
