HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to honor Chicago Police Department
4Probationary Officer Nicholas Picicci on the occasion of his
5courageous actions in saving the life of a 62-year-old man in
6Chicago; and
 
7    WHEREAS, During his first day on the job, Officer Nicholas
8Picicci was patrolling with Officer Robert Cavaiani near the
9intersection of Belmont and Austin Avenues in Chicago on
10November 8, 2015 when they got a call about a medical emergency
11several blocks away; they raced to the 3100 block of North
12Marmora Avenue, where they found a family performing CPR on a
1362-year-old man on the floor of his bathroom; the man was
14unresponsive, and the officers were unable to determine any
15signs of life, a heartbeat, or breathing; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Undeterred by the man's physical state, Officers
17Picicci and Cavaiani began performing CPR; after 5 minutes of
18CPR, the man's pulse returned; the Chicago Fire Department
19subsequently transported the man to the nearby Community First
20Medical Center; and
 
21    WHEREAS, The courage, dedication, and coolness under
22pressure exhibited by Officer Nicholas Picicci is worthy of the

1greatest respect; therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4honor Chicago Police Department Probationary Officer Nicholas
5Picicci for his courageous actions in saving the life of this
6man and wish him great success and happiness in his future
7endeavors; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to Officer Nicholas Picicci as a symbol of our esteem
10and respect.
