| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to honor Chicago Police Department |
| 4 | | Probationary Officer Nicholas Picicci on the occasion of his |
| 5 | | courageous actions in saving the life of a 62-year-old man in |
| 6 | | Chicago; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, During his first day on the job, Officer Nicholas |
| 8 | | Picicci was patrolling with Officer Robert Cavaiani near the |
| 9 | | intersection of Belmont and Austin Avenues in Chicago on |
| 10 | | November 8, 2015 when they got a call about a medical emergency |
| 11 | | several blocks away; they raced to the 3100 block of North |
| 12 | | Marmora Avenue, where they found a family performing CPR on a |
| 13 | | 62-year-old man on the floor of his bathroom; the man was |
| 14 | | unresponsive, and the officers were unable to determine any |
| 15 | | signs of life, a heartbeat, or breathing; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Undeterred by the man's physical state, Officers |
| 17 | | Picicci and Cavaiani began performing CPR; after 5 minutes of |
| 18 | | CPR, the man's pulse returned; the Chicago Fire Department |
| 19 | | subsequently transported the man to the nearby Community First |
| 20 | | Medical Center; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, The courage, dedication, and coolness under |
| 22 | | pressure exhibited by Officer Nicholas Picicci is worthy of the |
