| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Marian Central | ||||||
| 4 | Catholic High School volleyball team, the Hurricanes, on | ||||||
| 5 | winning the 2015 Illinois High School Association Class
3A | ||||||
| 6 | State Championship; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, After defeating Mascoutah in the semi-final, the | ||||||
| 8 | Hurricanes faced Joliet Catholic in
the championship game at | ||||||
| 9 | Redbird Arena on the campus of Illinois State University in | ||||||
| 10 | Bloomington; after being down one game, the Hurricanes showed | ||||||
| 11 | the resilience that had defined their season and
came back to | ||||||
| 12 | win the next 2 games 25-18 and 25-12 to win the championship; | ||||||
| 13 | and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The Hurricane's title victory capped off an | ||||||
| 15 | amazing 39 and 3 season, which included a 9-2 record in 3
game | ||||||
| 16 | matches; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, This is the first State championship for the | ||||||
| 18 | Hurricanes; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, The Hurricanes are coached by Elyse Slezak and | ||||||
| 20 | Laura Watling; the players are Grace Biell, Norah Cetera, | ||||||
| 21 | Rachel Giustino, Lauren Hanlon, Emily Hendle, Alex Kaufmann,
| ||||||

| 1 | Brenna Koch, Sydney Nemtuda, Rachel Noonan, Emily Radecki, | ||||||
| 2 | Gabbie Rohde, Meghan Schwallie, Lexi
Weck, and McKayla Wuensch; | ||||||

| 4 | WHEREAS, The Hurricanes were not only able to show
| ||||||
| 5 | excellence on the court, but also in the classroom by achieving | ||||||
| 6 | a 3.9 grade point average while competing at the highest | ||||||
| 7 | athletic level in the State; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The Hurricanes are an example of hard work, | ||||||
| 9 | integrity, and
perseverance to the people of the State of | ||||||
| 10 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 12 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 13 | congratulate the Marian Central Catholic High School | ||||||
| 14 | volleyball team, the Hurricanes, on winning the 2015 Illinois | ||||||
| 15 | High School Association Class
3A State Championship, and we | ||||||
| 16 | wish them continued
success in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to the Hurricanes as a
symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
| 19 | respect.
