HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to
congratulate the employees of 
4the Rock Island Arsenal on receiving the "2015 Best
Military 
5Related Blood Drive Coordinator" award; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Rock Island Arsenal has contributed to our 
7national defense for over 150
years; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, In 1974, the Rock Island Arsenal began doing 
9regular blood drives with the
Mississippi Valley Regional Blood 
10Center; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, The Rock Island Arsenal currently hosts an average 
12of 50 blood drives a year,
bringing in over 1,000 blood 
13donations annually; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Thanks to the positive influence of the Rock 
15Island Arsenal on the
importance of blood donation, several of 
16the contractors on Arsenal Island now host their
own blood 
17drives; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Because of the high volume of donations the Rock 
19Island Arsenal generates,
its employees play a major role in 
20ensuring the community has access to a safe and
adequate blood

2    WHEREAS, In 2015, Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center 
3nominated the employees of Rock
Island Arsenal as the "Best 
4Military Related Blood Drive Coordinators" in a
statewide 
5competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood 
6Centers; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9commend the Rock Island Arsenal employees for their enthusiasm, 
10self-less service
and commitment to the community and wish them 
11continued success with their blood
collection efforts; and be 
12it further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this
resolution be 
14presented to the employees of the Rock Island Arsenal as a 
15symbol of our respect and esteem.
