| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to commend Kenneth Hobson for
his quick |
| 4 | | thinking and heroic actions that firefighters believe saved his |
| 5 | | family from perishing in a house
fire; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Kenneth Hobson is a second grader at Raymond Grade |
| 7 | | School; during fire prevention week training, provided by his |
| 8 | | school and members of the Raymond-Harvel
Fire Department, |
| 9 | | Kenneth listened very carefully and retained valuable |
| 10 | | information; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, On December 11, 2015, Kenneth Hobson awoke and saw |
| 12 | | a fire burning in the bedroom he shared with his
little |
| 13 | | brother; he quickly awoke 4 year-old Cadien and exited the |
| 14 | | room, remembering to shut the door
behind him; he then went and |
| 15 | | woke the rest of the family and they all safely escaped to a |
| 16 | | neighboring
home; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, The simple act of shutting the door to the room |
| 18 | | contained the fire to that specific room and
prevented the fire |
| 19 | | from spreading rapidly to the rest of the house; closing the |
| 20 | | door to the room also bought Kenneth Hobson time to get the |
| 21 | | rest of the family out of
the burning house; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, If the door had not been shut, firefighters |
| 2 | | believe that some of Kenneth Hobson's family members may
have |
| 3 | | lost their lives in the blaze; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, The fire department responded to the call at 5:01 |
| 5 | | A.M.; while other
parts of the home were damaged by heat, |
| 6 | | water, and smoke, the front bedroom and the attic sustained the |
| 7 | | majority of the fire damage; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, When Kenneth Hobson is not busy saving lives, he |
| 9 | | enjoys playing soccer, baseball, fishing, and
camping; he is |
| 10 | | also a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Kenneth Hobson's quick thinking and heroic |
| 12 | | actions during an emergency are a huge factor in his
entire |
| 13 | | family surviving what could have been a tragic event; |
| 14 | | therefore, be it
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 16 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 17 | | honor and thank Kenneth Hobson for his heroic actions and wish |
| 18 | | him the
best in the future; and be it further

| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to Kenneth Hobson as a symbol of our
great respect |
| 21 | | and esteem.
