HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Taylor Campos of Lemont on 
4being named one of 2 recipients of the 2015 Wendy's High School 
5Heisman Award; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Wendy's High School Heisman Award program 
7recognizes outstanding students across the country for their 
8athletic prowess, academic achievement, and leadership within 
9their communities; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Taylor Campos, a senior at Lemont High School, was 
11the 2015 female recipient of the Wendy's Heisman Award; she is 
12one of only 2 students in Lemont High School history to score a 
13perfect 36 on the ACT and is a National Merit Scholarship 
14semifinalist; she is a 3-time cross country State qualifier, 
15earning All-state honors in 2014; she is a State qualifier in 
16track and field in the 3,200-meter run; she qualified for AP 
17Scholar with Honor designation after taking 4 advanced 
18placement classes as a junior; she is a member of the National 
19Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, and the Mu 
20Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Taylor Campos is one of just 8 area students to 
22serve on State Representative Jim Durkin's 2015/2016 Youth

1Council; she has served as the public relations Chairman for 
2her school's Interact Club, dedicates dozens of hours annually 
3to various community service activities, and is a tutor for her 
4school's Special Education/STEM program; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Taylor Campos plans on running cross country and 
6track and field at the collegiate level; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Taylor Campos received her honor on December 11, 
82015 at an awards ceremony in New York City; therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
11congratulate Taylor Campos on being named one of 2 recipients 
12of the 2015 Wendy's High School Heisman Award and we wish her 
13the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Taylor Campos as an expression of our esteem and 
16respect.
