| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jay | ||||||
| 4 | Michael, who passed away on January 8, 2016; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Jay Michael was born in Skokie on April 3, 1981; | ||||||
| 6 | he attended Niles North High school; he earned English
and | ||||||
| 7 | American degrees from Richmond, The American International | ||||||
| 8 | University in London; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Jay Michael was a founding partner and Chief | ||||||
| 10 | Creative Officer of CEDARst Companies; his first major
| ||||||
| 11 | publication was at the age of 23 from which he achieved | ||||||
| 12 | widespread recognition for interior design excellence; his | ||||||
| 13 | company successfully reused existing structures to the
highest | ||||||
| 14 | and best use in today's market; he redeveloped over 1,000,000 | ||||||
| 15 | square feet of
space over the past 12 years; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Jay Michael's company, CEDARst, has been one of | ||||||
| 17 | the most active developers of distressed assets in the Chicago
| ||||||
| 18 | market; under his leadership, the company received national | ||||||
| 19 | notoriety with media and brand outlets such as
Bloomberg, Bravo | ||||||
| 20 | TV, CB2, Bloomingdales Home, Crain's Business, Chicago | ||||||
| 21 | Sun-Times, Better Homes & Gardens,
and Renovation Style; and | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, Jay Michael served as a Board
Trustee for | ||||||
| 2 | Richmond, The American International University in London and | ||||||
| 3 | was involved in several philanthropic organizations throughout | ||||||
| 4 | Chicago, such as the Museum of Science
and Industry, | ||||||
| 5 | RefugeeONE, Common Threads, Heartland Alliance, and FLATS | ||||||
| 6 | Studio; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Prior to entering the real estate business, Jay | ||||||
| 8 | Michael worked for CNBC Europe's London Headquarters; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Jay Michael enjoyed living healthy, philanthropy, | ||||||
| 10 | antiquing, traveling, and food; he was cast as one of 6 members | ||||||
| 11 | on "100 Days of Summer", a Bravo channel reality show in 2014; | ||||||
| 12 | and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Jay Michael was a "lifestyle architect" and real | ||||||
| 14 | estate developer in search of the world's best ways to live; | ||||||
| 15 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 18 | mourn the passing of Jay Michael, and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 19 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 20 | him; and be it further

| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
