HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On November 6, 2015, at the State playoff football game at Deer Creek Mackinaw High School, Tazewell County Sheriff's Deputy Randy Davis was in the right place at the right time; and

WHEREAS, Matthew Breitbarth of Metamora was choking and Deputy Davis saved his life by performing the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge a piece of pork chop sandwich that was choking Breitbarth and not allowing him to speak; and

WHEREAS, It was the first time Deputy Randy Davis had done the Heimlich maneuver outside of training; he was recertified in the procedure and cardio pulmonary resuscitation just a few days before the November 6 game; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Randy Davis was honored for his actions the following week before another playoff football game at Dee-Mack; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Randy Davis has been a Deputy with the Tazewell County Sheriff's Department for 30 years, all on patrol duty; he has been a motorcycle officer for 8 years and was one of the original 2 in the position; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Randy Davis was named as the 2000 Deputy of the Year; in 2012, he received a commendation from the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists; in 2014, he received a letter of appreciation from the Illinois Department of Transportation for reaching the level of 7,000 speeding tickets issued; he has also received numerous commendations over the years for his quality and quantity of arrests he has made; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Davis has been a most aggressive pursuer of major traffic law violators over the years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor and thank Deputy Randy Davis for his heroic action and wish him the best in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Deputy Randy Davis as a symbol of our great respect and esteem.
