HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the
Auburn High School 
4girls basketball team, the Trojans, on their first ever 
5championship in the Sangamon County
Classic; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Trojans won their first championship in 24 
7years by
knocking off top-seeded Williamsville High School, in 
8a narrow 35-34 victory, aided by the
skilled hands of Emily 
9Jessup, whose 3-pointer with less than a second remaining 
10ensured her team's
victory; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Emily Jessup played a crucial role throughout the 
12game, not only did she hit the
game-winning shot, but she also 
13led the team in scoring with 18 points, including 4 3-pointers,

14demonstrating a high and impressive level of skill and finesse 
15for such a young athlete, earning to a
place on the 
16All-Tournament Team; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Katryel Clark's play throughout the tournament, 
18including 5 points in the
championship game, led to her being 
19named the Don Hartlaub Most Valuable player; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Karlie Mackenzie and Hannah Smith also scored 5 
21points apiece in the
championship game, further cementing the

1Trojans victory; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, The Trojans are Emma Brown, Emily Jessup, Hannah 
3Smith, Danielle Helms, Kayla
Pacini, Karlie Mackenzie, Rachel 
4VanBebber, Mackenzie Tanner, Kassidy Scherrer, Katryel Clark, 
5Ashley
Campbell, Rebekah VanBebber, and Taylor Bess; 
6therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9congratulate the members of the Auburn High School girls 
10basketball
team, the Trojans, on winning the Sangamon County 
11Classic; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That we wish the Trojans all the best with their 
13lives as they move forward from this
momentous success and may 
14they all have high levels of achievement in everything they 
15choose to
pursue; and be it further
  
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17presented to the Trojans as an expression of our esteem and 
18respect.
