HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Schaumburg was incorporated as a village on March 
37, 1956 and observes the 60th
anniversary of its incorporation 
4in 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Schaumburg has grown
from a small farming 
6community with a population of 130 residents, encompassing two 
7square miles,
into a thriving community with a population of 
875,000; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Schaumburg serves as a center of economic activity 
10in the State of Illinois and is  home to
more businesses than 
11any community outside the City of Chicago; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Schaumburg has distinguished itself as a premier 
13and livable residential
community offering its citizens first 
14class services and amenities; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Schaumburg is home to an award-winning library, a 
16Gold Medal Award-winning
park district, unparalleled schools, 
17and a wealth of recreational and cultural activities; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Schaumburg acknowledges active citizens who 
19contribute to the continued health, well-being, and success of 
20the community; and

1    WHEREAS, Schaumburg has dedicated 2016 as a year of 
2celebration, honoring its
rich heritage, its vibrant present, 
3and its continued success in the future; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6recognize the Village of Schaumburg's many achievements and 
7services and express
congratulations on 60 years of informing, 
8inspiring, and bringing the community together; and be it 
9further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Al Larson, President of the Village of
Schaumburg.
