HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers played his 
315th and final game in Chicago against the Bulls on February 
421, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant and the Lakers have a record of 6 wins 
6and 9 losses in their games at the United Center (UC); his 
7first game at the UC took place on December 17, 1996, during 
8the Bull's second, three-peat of the 1990s; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant is 3rd on the NBA's all-time scoring 
10list and 3rd on the NBA's all-time playoff scoring list; he 
11achieved the second-highest scoring game in NBA history with 81 
12points, and has 24 games with at least 50 points scored; he is 
13a 2-time NBA scoring champion and has the 11th-highest scoring 
14average of all-time; he has the 5th-most field goals made in 
15NBA history; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant is a 5-time NBA Champion; he was twice 
17named NBA Finals Most Valuable Player; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant was named the NBA's Most Valuable 
19Player following the 2007-08 season; he was selected as an NBA 
20All-Star 17 times and named Most Valuable Player of the 
21All-Star game 4 times; he was selected to the All-NBA First

2    WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant has been selected to the NBA's 
3All-Defense team 12 times; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant is 9th on the NBA's all-time list in 
5career minutes and has played for 20 seasons; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Kobe Bryant is a 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist; 
7therefore, be it
  
 
  
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10declare February 21, 2016 as Kobe Bryant Day in the State of 
11Illinois; and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to Kobe Bryant as an expression of our esteem and 
14respect.
