2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in | ||||||
4 | the lives of Illinois citizens; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Lynn Gorden | ||||||
6 | Caulk celebrated his 95th Birthday this past summer; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk was born to Robert and Essie Caulk on | ||||||
8 | July 6, 1920, the 9th of 13 children; Lynn's father passed away | ||||||
9 | when Lynn was 21 years old, leaving him to assist his mother | ||||||
10 | with the upkeep of her home; he helped financially support his | ||||||
11 | family and care for his 4 younger siblings; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk graduated from Witt High School in 1938 | ||||||
13 | and began working at a foundry in Schram City, manufacturing | ||||||
14 | carburetors; and | ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk entered the United States Army on | ||||||
16 | October 1, 1942, serving as a machine gunner in the 33rd | ||||||
17 | Infantry, Heavy Weapons Division; he was stationed in the South | ||||||
18 | Pacific for 39 months in combat without leave until his | ||||||
19 | discharge on December 22, 1945; and | ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Upon his return from service to his country, Lynn |

1 | Caulk went to work at Eagle Pitcher; he then went to work for | ||||||
2 | Illinois Power in 1950 until his retirement as Line Crew | ||||||
3 | Foreman in August of 1982; and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk married Rose Reck on January 31, 1948 | ||||||
5 | and they were blessed with 3 children, Roger, Rose Ann, and | ||||||
6 | Penny; he remained married to Rose for 50 years until her death | ||||||
7 | in 1998; and | ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk moved to the Rochester area in November | ||||||
9 | of 1996 to be near his daughters, Penny and Rose Ann; he later | ||||||
10 | moved to Springfield, where he shuttled cars to auction sites | ||||||
11 | for various automobile dealerships in the area; he continued | ||||||
12 | driving until the age of 90; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk found love again late in life with | ||||||
14 | Claire Papai; after 17 years together, the 2 spend their time | ||||||
15 | playing cards, traveling, reading, and enjoying their golden | ||||||
16 | years together; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk has 6 grandchildren and 4 | ||||||
18 | great-grandchildren; he is still an active card player and is | ||||||
19 | an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Illini basketball | ||||||
20 | teams; in his spare time, he enjoys walking, reading, and | ||||||
21 | working on Sudoku puzzles; and

1 | WHEREAS, Lynn Caulk is highly respected in his community | ||||||
2 | and deeply loved by his family; therefore, be it
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
4 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
5 | recognize and honor Lynn Gorden Caulk for his contributions to | ||||||
6 | his community and our nation; and be it further
| ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
8 | presented to Lynn Caulk as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
9 | respect.
