HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Shane
Witzel of 
4Woodlawn on his induction into the Illinois Basketball Coaches 
5Association Hall of Fame as a
member of the Class of 2016; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Shane Witzel was born and raised in Woodlawn; he 
7returned as a teacher and
coach at Woodlawn High School; he 
8started out as a boys basketball assistant coach to 
9then-Woodlawn Head Coach
Tom Copple; he  took over as head coach 
10for the 1996-97 season; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Shane Witzel's  basketball team attained the 
12highest peak of success with a Class 1A
State Championship 
13during the 2011-12 season; his teams have advanced to the final 
14four of the
State tournament two other times; two of his teams 
15have reached the 30-win plateau; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Shane Witzel has amassed more than 400 career 
17wins; and
  
 
  
18    WHEREAS, Shane Witzel's competitiveness, positive 
19attitude, and influence are demonstrated by his teams
and the 
20players he has coached; and

1    WHEREAS, Over the years, Shane Witzel has earned the 
2support of his assistant coaches, parents, the school, and the

3community; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Shane Witzel and 19 other
coaches will be honored 
5at a banquet on April 30, 2016 in
Bloomington held by the 
6Illinois Basketball Coaches Association for members of the 
7incoming Hall of Fame class; therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10congratulate Shane Witzel on his induction into the Illinois 
11Basketball
Coaches Association Hall of Fame Class of 2016 and 
12we wish him many more years of success; and be it further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14delivered to Shane Witzel with our sincerest esteem
and 
15respect.
