| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Greg Koos on the occasion |
| 4 | | of his retirement as the
Executive Director of the McLean |
| 5 | | County Museum of History; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Greg Koos
has served the McLean County Museum of |
| 7 | | History for 39 years; he was first hired as a part-time |
| 8 | | employee; he then became the full-time
Archivist and Site |
| 9 | | Manager; he assumed his current role as Executive Director in |
| 10 | | 1987; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, The McLean County Museum of History has become an
|
| 12 | | American Alliance of Museums accredited museum under his
|
| 13 | | leadership; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, With Greg Koos' unwavering dedication to |
| 15 | | preserving local history
and his commitment to assuring access |
| 16 | | to it, he has transformed the
museum and its library and |
| 17 | | archives, with its educational programs and
exhibits for all |
| 18 | | ages, into a thriving destination in downtown
Bloomington and |
| 19 | | all of McLean County; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Greg Koos has authored several successful project |
| 21 | | grants; he has been
a successful fundraiser, providing |
|

| 1 | | diversified public and private funds
for the museum's financial |
| 2 | | sustainability; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Greg Koos has been a strong advocate for museums, |
| 4 | | archives, and historic
sites, serving in a variety of |
| 5 | | leadership roles on several local and State
boards, |
| 6 | | commissions, and councils, including the Illinois Historic
|
| 7 | | Preservation Agency, the McLean County Abraham Lincoln |
| 8 | | Bicentennial
Commission, the Illinois Historic Sites Advisory |
| 9 | | Council, the McLean County
Chamber of Commerce, the Institute |
| 10 | | of Museum Services, and the Illinois State
Historical Society, |
| 11 | | and others; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Greg Koos is a researcher, a writer, an archivist, |
| 13 | | and a curator; he is
known as a walking encyclopedia of McLean |
| 14 | | County history; therefore, be it
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 16 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 17 | | congratulate Greg Koos on his retirement as the
Executive |
| 18 | | Director of the McLean County Museum of History; and be it |
| 19 | | further

| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to Greg Koos as an expression of our esteem and |
| 22 | | respect.
