| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Judy Weber-Jones, who |
| 4 | | will retire from the teaching profession at the end of the 2016 |
| 5 | | school year; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Judy Weber-Jones is a teacher at Gibson City |
| 7 | | Melvin Sibley High School in Gibson City; she has dedicated |
| 8 | | more than 30 years to teaching driver education to teenagers; |
| 9 | | and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Through the efforts of Judy Weber-Jones, |
| 11 | | countless teenage lives have been saved; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Judy Weber-Jones was named to the Illinois High |
| 13 | | School and College Driver Education Association's Hall of Fame |
| 14 | | in 2007 and was named Teacher of the Year in 2016; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Judy Weber-Jones took up the cause of teen driver |
| 16 | | safety in 2005 when she initiated the nationally recognized |
| 17 | | Project Ignition Program at Melvin Sibley High School; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Judy Weber-Jones and her students have won |
| 19 | | numerous teen driver safety awards, including Project Ignition |
| 20 | | National Champion in 2005-2006; the Illinois Governor's People |
|

| 1 | | Are Today's Hero Award in 2006; Rural Youth Traffic Safety |
| 2 | | National Champions in 2008; National Leader for Impact on Teen |
| 3 | | Driver Safety Award in 2010; National Leader in School Traffic |
| 4 | | Safety in 2011; General Motors and National Safety Council's |
| 5 | | Teen Driver Safety Leadership Award in 2012; and first place in |
| 6 | | the Illinois Department of Transportation's Operation Teen |
| 7 | | Safe Driving Program in 2014; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Judy Weber-Jones has been an inspiration and |
| 9 | | mentor to her students throughout the years by providing them |
| 10 | | with life lessons in addition to driver education; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Judy Weber-Jones' students state she has taught |
| 12 | | them how to "bring out the best" in themselves and others, that |
| 13 | | they have "never met a person more caring, kind, and giving to |
| 14 | | everyone", and that she has "forever changed" their lives; |
| 15 | | therefore, be it

| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 18 | | congratulate Judy Weber-Jones on the occasion of her |
| 19 | | retirement, thank her for her dedication to the education |
| 20 | | profession and her dedication to her students, and wish her |
| 21 | | continued success and happiness in the future; and be it |
