HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Hannah Thompson on being 
4named State Champion in Radio Speaking; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Hannah Thompson is a senior at Downers Grove North 
6High school; she competed in Radio Speaking, in which a student 
7is given a packet
of news stories and must create a five minute 
8news broadcast; students who compete in radio are in a 
9soundproof room separate
from judges;  they are judged on 
10delivery, voice, clarity, and articulation; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Hannah Thompson is a drum major for the marching 
12band; she plays
clarinet in the Wind Ensemble and Pit 
13Orchestra; she is in varsity scholastic
bowl, a member of the 
14gay/straight alliance (PRISM), a fine arts aide,
and a former 
15health class aide; she is on the math team and is in National 
16Honor Society; she played badminton her freshman and sophomore

17years; and
  
 
  
18    WHEREAS, Hannah Thompson is planning on studying 
19biomedical engineering in college; she is the
daughter of 
20Andrew and Julie Thompson of Downers Grove; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, February 22, 2016 was Hannah Thompson Day at

North High School; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4congratulate Hannah Thompson on being named State Champion in 
5Radio Speaking and we wish her many more successful years; and 
6be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to Hannah Thompson as an expression of our esteem and 
9respect.
