| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Evelyn Gleason on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of her retirement as Director of the Midlothian Park | ||||||
| 5 | District; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason has been a resident of Midlothian | ||||||
| 7 | her entire life; she attended St. Christopher School and Bremen | ||||||
| 8 | High School; she subsequently earned her Bachelor of Science in | ||||||
| 9 | Education from Northern Illinois University in 1970, became a | ||||||
| 10 | Certified Park and Recreation Professional, and earned her | ||||||
| 11 | Master's in Public Administration from Governor's State | ||||||
| 12 | University in 2011; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason served as a teacher at St. | ||||||
| 14 | Christopher's Parish from 1970 to 1976 and at Incarnation | ||||||
| 15 | School in Palos Heights from 1993 to 1997; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason has served on the District 228 | ||||||
| 17 | School Board since 1993; she served as the Board's | ||||||
| 18 | Vice-President from 1995 to 1997 and as the Board's President | ||||||
| 19 | from 1999 to 2001 and from 2005 to 2007; during her tenure, she | ||||||
| 20 | has served on every District 228 Board Committee, including the | ||||||
| 21 | Finance, Labor/Management, Personnel, Policy, Student | ||||||
| 22 | Services, and Teaching and Learning committees; she was also | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | instrumental in the passage of a Bremen District 228 referendum | ||||||
| 2 | in 1997; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason was hired to serve as Director of | ||||||
| 4 | the Midlothian Park District in June of 1997; as Director, she | ||||||
| 5 | has overseen the remodeling of all six parks in the district; | ||||||
| 6 | she was a member of the Mid Mark Water Commission; she was also | ||||||
| 7 | instrumental in getting a referendum passed in 2002; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason was the recipient of the Illinois | ||||||
| 9 | Association of Park Districts "Best of the Best" Award in 2012 | ||||||
| 10 | in honor of her work with the Midlothian Park District; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason has two children, Jerry and Bill, | ||||||
| 12 | and four grandchildren; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Gleason serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
| 14 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
| 15 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 18 | congratulate Evelyn Gleason on the occasion of her retirement | ||||||
| 19 | and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and | ||||||
| 20 | be it further
