| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Heartland Community | ||||||
| 4 | College in Normal on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Heartland Community College was named by | ||||||
| 6 | residents of the district in 1991, and Dr.
Jonathan M. Astroth | ||||||
| 7 | was named its first President; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The first 811 Heartland Community College | ||||||
| 9 | students were enrolled in the fall of 1991 and attended classes | ||||||
| 10 | in high schools, churches, and numerous other facilities | ||||||
| 11 | throughout the district; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, The communities of Pontiac and Lincoln were served | ||||||
| 13 | by Heartland Community College through the establishment of | ||||||
| 14 | sites in each city; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, United States Senator Paul Simon addressed the | ||||||
| 16 | inaugural Heartland Community College graduating class; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, The Illinois General Assembly approved funds for a | ||||||
| 18 | permanent campus location on
Raab Road in Normal in 1998; the | ||||||
| 19 | permanent campus opened in the fall of 2000; and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, Over 5,000 students now pursue credit programs of | ||||||
| 2 | study; 14,000 residents access programs
of personal and | ||||||
| 3 | professional enrichment; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Heartland Community College has, throughout its | ||||||
| 5 | growth, incorporated methods and planning that promoted
| ||||||
| 6 | environmental stewardship and supported sustainable and | ||||||
| 7 | renewable resources; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Regional businesses and organizations rely on | ||||||
| 9 | Heartland Community College's customized training programs to
| ||||||
| 10 | support their workforce needs; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Heartland Community College serves students from | ||||||
| 12 | grade school ages through active seniors; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Heartland Community College proudly serves the | ||||||
| 14 | community by preparing thousands
for personal and academic | ||||||
| 15 | success; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 18 | congratulate Heartland Community College on its 25th | ||||||
| 19 | anniversary and we wish them many more successful years; and be | ||||||
| 20 | it further
