HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Arthur O. Kane on the
4occasion of his 98th birthday; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Arthur Kane was born on January 17, 1918; he
6graduated from the University of Chicago in 1936 and from the
7University of Chicago Law School in 1939; he served in the
8United States Army during World War II; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Arthur Kane started his career by practicing law
10with his father, Henry Kane; he founded and built the top
11workers' compensation defense firm in the State of Illinois,
12Kane, Doy and Harrington, which was often referred to as the
13"1927 New York Yankees of Workers' Compensation Law"; he
14donated the Arthur O. Kane Center for Legal Education and
15Clinic to the University of Chicago Law School; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Arthur Kane and his wife, Esther, donated the
17"Esther & Arthur O. Kane Outpatient Clinic" at the Chicago
18Rehabilitation Institute; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Most recently, Arthur Kane established the Arthur
20O. Kane Chair in Constitutional Law at the University of
21Chicago Law School; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3congratulate Arthur O. Kane on the occasion of his 98th
4birthday and we wish him many more wonderful years; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to Arthur Kane as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
