| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Elissa Hapner of Aurora on |
| 4 | | winning the Highland Games Women's World Championship; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Elissa Hapner entered the 52nd Annual |
| 6 | | Glenmorangie Arizona Scottish Gathering & Highland Games in |
| 7 | | Phoenix as one of the favorites; the competitions are often |
| 8 | | referred to as the "heavy events" because they involve throwing |
| 9 | | large objects - stones, poles, hay bales - for distance or |
| 10 | | height; this was her first time competing at the world |
| 11 | | championships; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Elissa Hapner competed in track and field in high |
| 13 | | school and college, where she was introduced to the Highland |
| 14 | | Games competition; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Elissa Hapner is a librarian at Gates Elementary |
| 16 | | School; she is in her fifth year as Library Resource Assistant; |
| 17 | | she coaches soccer, basketball, and softball and volunteers |
| 18 | | with the throwers on the East Aurora High School track and |
| 19 | | field team; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Elissa Hapner will be competing in the |
| 21 | | international competition in Canada in May; therefore, be it
|
