HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Elissa Hapner of Aurora on 
4winning the Highland Games Women's World Championship; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Elissa Hapner entered the 52nd Annual 
6Glenmorangie Arizona Scottish Gathering & Highland Games in 
7Phoenix as one of the favorites; the competitions are often 
8referred to as the "heavy events" because they involve throwing 
9large objects - stones, poles, hay bales - for distance or 
10height; this was her first time competing at the world 
11championships; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Elissa Hapner competed in track and field in high 
13school and college, where she was introduced to the Highland 
14Games competition; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Elissa Hapner is a librarian at Gates Elementary 
16School; she is in her fifth year as Library Resource Assistant; 
17she coaches soccer, basketball, and softball and volunteers 
18with the throwers on the East Aurora High School track and 
19field team; and
  
 
  
20    WHEREAS, Elissa Hapner will be competing in the 
21international competition in Canada in May; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3congratulate Elissa Hapner of Aurora on winning the Highland 
4Games Women's World Championship; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to Elissa Hapner as an expression of our esteem and 
7respect.
