2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
| ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Washington Community
| ||||||
4 | High School Panthers Wrestling Team on their successful | ||||||
5 | 2015-2016 season; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The Panthers brought home the first State | ||||||
7 | wrestling championship in their school's history to add to | ||||||
8 | their 2nd place finish in the Class 2A State meet last season; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, The Panthers finished the season as the Class 2A
| ||||||
11 | State Dual Team Champions, Section and Regional Champions and | ||||||
12 | Mid-Illini Champions; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Panthers finishing 1st in State are: junior, Dack
| ||||||
14 | Punke, 113 pound class; sophomore, Tyler Delaware, 120 pound
| ||||||
15 | class; and junior, Jacob Warner, in the 182 pound class for the
| ||||||
16 | second consecutive year; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Panthers also finishing in State ranks are:
| ||||||
18 | junior, Ryder Punke, State runner-up, 160 pound class; senior,
| ||||||
19 | Dylan Thurston, 3rd in State, 132 pound class; senior, Trey
| ||||||
20 | Kelley, 4th in State, 106 pound class; sophomore, Blaize Punke,
| ||||||
21 | 4th in State, 138 pound class; junior, Kyle Goin, 5th in State,

1 | 152 pound class; senior, Randy Meneweather, 5th in State, 170 | ||||||

4 | WHEREAS, Senior, Ethan Reel is a State qualifier in the 145

6 | WHEREAS, The dual team completed their season with a record | ||||||
7 | of 26 and 5 and qualified
for the Dual Team Tournament by | ||||||
8 | winning the Class 2A East Peoria Regional; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, The dual team had an impressive list of | ||||||
10 | accomplishments during their Dual
Team Illinois High School | ||||||
11 | Association State Series; they defeated Lincoln Way West in the | ||||||
12 | Dual Team Sectional (34-25);
they defeated Cahokia in the State | ||||||
13 | Quarterfinals (43-27); they defeated Chicago Mt. Carmel
in the | ||||||
14 | State Semifinals (34-32); and they defeated Chicago Heights | ||||||
15 | (Marian Catholic) in the
State Finals (46-22) for their first | ||||||
16 | State championship; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, The team also won the Sycamore Invitational and | ||||||
18 | placed 7th at the Clash
National Duals; and

19 | WHEREAS, The members of the dual team State roster include: | ||||||

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
14 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
15 | congratulate the Washington Community High School Panthers | ||||||
16 | Wrestling Team on their successful 2015-2016 season and we wish | ||||||
17 | them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it | ||||||
18 | further

19 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the members of the Washington
Community High | ||||||
21 | School Wrestling Team and their coaches as a symbol of our
