| 2 | | WHEREAS, For the sixth consecutive year, Zeigler-Royalton |
| 3 | | Coaches vs. Cancer has led all schools in the State of Illinois |
| 4 | | in funds raised in support of the American Cancer Society; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, During the six years of the group's efforts, they |
| 6 | | have raised in excess of $96,000; in 2016, they expect to reach |
| 7 | | $100,000; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, In addition to leading the State in profits |
| 9 | | raised, Zeigler-Royalton has achieved a national status, |
| 10 | | including finishing as high as seventh among all high schools |
| 11 | | in the United States; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, The money raised for Coaches vs. Cancer is |
| 13 | | returned to southern Illinois in the form of patient services |
| 14 | | and grants that help in the early detection and prevention of |
| 15 | | cancer; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, These feats are remarkable given the school's |
| 17 | | student population of 160 and a combined population of less |
| 18 | | than 3,000 in both communities; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Not only are students learning about the risk |
| 20 | | factors for cancer and raising awareness, they are volunteering |
