HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, For the sixth consecutive year, Zeigler-Royalton 
3Coaches vs. Cancer has led all schools in the State of Illinois 
4in funds raised in support of the American Cancer Society; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, During the six years of the group's efforts, they 
6have raised in excess of $96,000; in 2016, they expect to reach 
7$100,000; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, In addition to leading the State in profits 
9raised, Zeigler-Royalton has achieved a national status, 
10including finishing as high as seventh among all high schools 
11in the United States; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The money raised for Coaches vs. Cancer is 
13returned to southern Illinois in the form of patient services 
14and grants that help in the early detection and prevention of 
15cancer; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, These feats are remarkable given the school's 
17student population of 160 and a combined population of less 
18than 3,000 in both communities; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Not only are students learning about the risk 
20factors for cancer and raising awareness, they are volunteering

1their time and efforts into a great charitable cause; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, The students, coordinators, and all those 
3involved deserve recognition and congratulations for their 
4outstanding work in raising funds and volunteerism; therefore, 
5be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8recognize Zeigler-Royalton Coaches vs. Cancer and all those 
9involved for their dedication, hard work, and significant 
10contributions to southern Illinois and the State at large; and 
11be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of the resolution be 
13presented to Ziegler-Royalton Coaches vs. Cancer in 
14recognition of their efforts.
