| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Alyce |
| 4 | | Lorraine Koehler of Peoria, who passed away on April 5, 2016; |
| 5 | | and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Alyce Koehler was born near Reliance, South Dakota |
| 7 | | to George A. and Noma Wallace Schmitt on April 27, 1926; she |
| 8 | | was raised on a ranch near Pierre, South Dakota and attended |
| 9 | | Pierre High School; she attended Yankton College and married |
| 10 | | the Rev. Rueben P. Koehler in Brush, Colorado on December 22, |
| 11 | | 1946; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Alyce Koehler supported her husband in his |
| 13 | | ministry with the United Church of Christ; they made their home |
| 14 | | in many places, including Parkston, Beresford, Chamberlain, |
| 15 | | Huron, and Yankton, South Dakota; Phoenix, Arizona; |
| 16 | | Minneapolis, Minnesota; Denver, Colorado; and St. Louis, |
| 17 | | Missouri; in retirement, Sebring, Florida; she always |
| 18 | | considered South Dakota to be home; she moved to Peoria in 2000 |
| 19 | | to be near her son, David, and his family; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Alyce Koehler was a member of PEO (Philanthropic |
| 21 | | Educational Organization); she worked for the CROP |
| 22 | | organization in South Dakota and volunteered at a social |
|

| 1 | | service agency, helping the less-fortunate in Missouri; she |
| 2 | | loved to sing, swim, sew, garden, do ceramics, and bake healthy |
| 3 | | cookies; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Alyce Koehler was preceded in death by her |
| 5 | | husband, Rueben, and an infant daughter; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Alyce Koehler is survived by her two sons, David |
| 7 | | and Thom; David's wife, Nora Sullivan, and their children, Kate |
| 8 | | (Jay Pastucha), Maggie (Aimee Pine), and Lilly (Billy Gehring); |
| 9 | | Thom's wife, Becky, and their children, Sara (John |
| 10 | | Buttemiller), Amalia (Adam Flynn), and Christie (Josh |
| 11 | | Aberson); her eight great-grandchildren, Georgia and Amelia |
| 12 | | Pastucha, Natalie and Henry Buttemiller, Liam and Max Flynn, |
| 13 | | and Collin and Kate Aberson; her sister, Mildred Andersen; her |
| 14 | | nephews and niece, Gary, Fred, Steve, Beverly, and their |
| 15 | | families; her sister-in-law, Ruth Mayfield; and her niece, |
| 16 | | Susan; therefore, be it

| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 18 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 19 | | mourn the passing of Alyce Lorraine Koehler, and extend our |
| 20 | | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew |
| 21 | | and loved her; and be it further
