HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, On this 28th day of April, 2016, the members of 
3the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate  the 
4Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary on the occasion of the 
5organization's 50th anniversary; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary was 
7established in 1966 to provide financial support needed to 
8continue the healing ministry of Jesus Christ; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary helps to 
10generate funds through the gift shop and the Bargain Box thrift 
11shop, as well as through various fund raising projects 
12throughout the year; the funds that are raised assist the 
13Auxiliary in its purchase of needed equipment for the hospital 
14and provides educational scholarships for individuals going 
15into health care professions; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, The Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary enriches 
17the community and supports the healing mission and values of 
18SSM Health by creating opportunities for people to experience 
19the joy of serving others while ensuring an exceptional 
20experience for those who serve; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Through a variety of volunteer opportunities,

1including customer service and hospitality, administrative 
2duties, assisting nursing staff, pastoral care visits, and 
3working in non-clinical support areas, the Good Samaritan 
4Hospital Auxiliary contributes goodwill and support to the 
5community at large in a major way; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary's 
7volunteers are an essential part of the team and are committed 
8to providing exceptional service to the patients, visitors, and 
9staff of SSM Health; the Auxiliary has 115 volunteers who 
10worked 18,807 hours in 2015 in support of the mission of Good 
11Samaritan Hospital; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The President of SSM Health Good Samaritan 
13Hospital is Michael Warren; the President of the Good Samaritan 
14Hospital Auxiliary is Jane Byars; the First Vice President of 
15the Auxiliary is Linda Hoffman; the Second Vice President of 
16the Auxiliary is Earl Spohr; the Secretary of the Auxiliary is 
17Mary Green; the Treasurer of the Auxiliary is Don Wood; and the 
18Members-at-Large of the Auxiliary are Zella Fitts, Nancy 
19Germann, Mary Lang, and Cleo Holt; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
21NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
22congratulate the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary on the 
23occasion of the organization's 50th anniversary and wish them

1continued success and happiness in the future; and be it

3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
4presented to the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary as a symbol 
5of our esteem and respect.
