| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Daniel L. Goodwin on the | ||||||
| 4 | DuPage Airport Flight Center being re-named in his honor as the | ||||||
| 5 | Daniel L. Goodwin Flight Center Building; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Daniel Goodwin served as the Chairman of the | ||||||
| 7 | Authority Board of
Commissioners from January of 2003 to | ||||||
| 8 | January of 2013; he served as a Commissioner on the Authority
| ||||||
| 9 | Board of Commissioners from October 8, 2002 to January 31, | ||||||
| 10 | 2013; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Daniel Goodwin was instrumental in the Authority | ||||||
| 12 | turning an annual
loss into an annual profit; through his | ||||||
| 13 | leadership, the Authority eliminated
all outstanding debt and | ||||||
| 14 | permanently
reduced its property tax levy by over 80%; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Under Daniel Goodwin's leadership, the Authority | ||||||
| 16 | significantly
reduced staffing by eliminating upper and | ||||||
| 17 | middle-management positions; the Authority revised all of its | ||||||
| 18 | policies and procedures to incorporate best
management | ||||||
| 19 | practices and was recognized as a model airport authority | ||||||
| 20 | throughout the country; the Authority instituted
rigorous, | ||||||
| 21 | transparent financial oversight by its Board of Commissioners | ||||||
| 22 | to monitor performance; the Authority enacted
some of the most | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | stringent ethics reform and procurement transparency in the | ||||||
| 2 | State of Illinois
requiring, among other things, that all | ||||||
| 3 | businesses that wish to perform services or provide goods to | ||||||
| 4 | the Authority to
list political contributions to local elected | ||||||
| 5 | officials; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, As Chairman of the DuPage Technology Park, Daniel | ||||||
| 7 | Goodwin was
instrumental in reorganizing the business park; | ||||||
| 8 | thereby creating a savings of approximately $500,000
a year; | ||||||
| 9 | and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Daniel Goodwin was instrumental in the developing | ||||||
| 11 | the Authority
into an award-winning organization, which has | ||||||
| 12 | been recognized by elected officials and by the
aviation | ||||||
| 13 | industry at the local, State and national levels; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Daniel Goodwin also serves as a philanthropic role | ||||||
| 15 | model and is
highly regarded for his work in a multitude of | ||||||
| 16 | causes in DuPage County and the region; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Daniel Goodwin is the Chairman and CEO of The | ||||||
| 18 | Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, Inc., headquartered on a | ||||||
| 19 | 28-acre campus in Oak Brook; he has been in the real estate | ||||||
| 20 | industry for over 40 years and has demonstrated a life-long | ||||||
| 21 | interest in housing-related issues; he is a member of numerous | ||||||
| 22 | real estate organizations; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, The renaming event will be held on April 19, 2016; | ||||||
| 2 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 4 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 5 | congratulate Daniel L. Goodwin on the DuPage Airport Flight | ||||||
| 6 | Center being re-named in his honor as the Daniel L. Goodwin | ||||||
| 7 | Flight Center Building; and be it further
| ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 9 | presented to Daniel Goodwin as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 10 | respect.
