HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Patrick
Delaney on the 
4occasion of his retirement as Police Chief of the Village of 
5Sauget; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Patrick Delaney was born on July 25, 1958; he 
7started with the Village of Sauget as
Police Chief on June 1, 
81984, a month before turning 24; he and his wife live in the 
9Village with their two children; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Patrick Delaney has been a devoted Police Chief; 
11he is always on call, showing up
seven days a week and coming 
12into the office on weekends and vacation days to keep on top of

13all happenings; he even helps fill out reports and handles 
14calls himself if no other officer is available; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Patrick Delaney is always willing to assist 
16others, from giving rides to people who
are stranded, buying 
17tickets for those who need transportation, or food for those 
18who are hungry,
and is always there for his officers if they 
19need help or just to talk; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Patrick Delaney has helped expand the Sauget 
21Police Department with more
officers, and brought the Village

1up to date on training and equipment, such as computers in

2police cars and tasers for each officer; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Patrick Delaney has assisted the Major Case Squad 
4in solving two murders in
Sauget in the last five years; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Patrick Delaney is friendly and makes everyone 
6around him feel comfortable, often
laughing and joking around, 
7while going above and beyond what makes a good Police Chief

8during his nearly 32 years in law enforcement; therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
11congratulate Patrick Delaney
on his retirement as Police Chief 
12of the Village of Sauget and thank him for his service, and we 
13wish
him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it 
14further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to Patrick Delaney as an
expression of our esteem and 
17respect.
