HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize Sister Margaret McGuckin and Sister Carol Jander who co-founded and taught at the Franciscan Learning Center in Joliet; and

WHEREAS, For over 35 years, Sister Margaret and Sister Carol have committed themselves with a common hope and love to the teaching of the children in their early pre-k, pre-k, and kindergarten programs; throughout the years, they have inspired the children to be compassionate, charitable, and curious lifelong learners; they have been tireless with their efforts of teaching and enriching children's formative years with: parent and grandparent involvement; art fairs; science labs; music, dance, and drama instruction and performances; an onsite self-supported greenhouse; farm animals visits; Dad's Day fishing trips; and a deep individual understanding and involvement in each child's learning development; and

WHEREAS, The Franciscan Learning Center, named after their order of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate, better known as the Joliet Franciscans, will soon be closing its doors; and

WHEREAS, Sister Margaret and Sister Carol are the definition of excellence in teaching; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Sister Margaret McGuckin and Sister Carol Jander who co-founded and taught at the Franciscan Learning Center for over 35 years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Sister Margaret and Sister Carol as an expression of our esteem and respect.
