HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize Daniel
Dennis of Lake County 
4on qualifying for
the 2016 United States Olympic Wrestling 
5Team; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Daniel Dennis is a graduate of Grant Community 
7High School in Fox Lake, where he was
a two-time State finalist 
8Illinois High School Association wrestler; he compiled a record 
9of 153 wins and 28 losses and set numerous records; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Daniel Dennis attended the University of Iowa, 
11where he was a two-time All-American wrestler and winner of the 
12Midlands Championships in
2008; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Daniel Dennis left wrestling in 2012 after 
14college; he coached at Windsor High School in California before 
15being encouraged to return to competition
by his fellow coaches 
16and the students he mentored; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Daniel Dennis was the  runner-up at the 2015 U.S. 
18World Team Trials; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Being spurred on by the encouragement of friends,

20coaches, and family, Daniel Dennis won the 2016 U.S. Olympic

1Team Trials in freestyle wrestling at 57
kg (125.5 lbs.) by a 
210-0 technical fall; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Daniel Dennis will represent the United States of 
4America at the 2016
Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, 
5Brazil; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8recognize Daniel Dennis on being named to the 2016 U.S. Olympic 
9Wrestling Team; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Daniel Dennis as a symbol
of our esteem and 
12respect.
