| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are | ||||||
| 3 | pleased to honor Mary M. "Margie" Mitchell for 50 years in | ||||||
| 4 | public service; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Mary Mitchell first reported to work at the | ||||||
| 6 | Greater Egypt Regional Planning and Development
Commission on | ||||||
| 7 | February 14, 1966, where she continues to work today; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The Greater Egypt Regional Planning and | ||||||
| 9 | Development Commission is a unit of local
government formed | ||||||
| 10 | under the authority of State of Illinois statute in 1961 to | ||||||
| 11 | "provide a plan for the
general purpose of guiding and | ||||||
| 12 | accomplishing a coordinated, adjusted, and harmonious | ||||||
| 13 | development of
the Franklin, Jackson, Perry, and Williamson | ||||||
| 14 | County region, and of public improvement and utilities
therein | ||||||
| 15 | for the purpose of best promoting health, safety, morals, | ||||||
| 16 | order, convenience, prosperity,
efficiency and economy in the | ||||||
| 17 | process of development and the general welfare of said region." | ||||||
| 18 | In 1967,
Jefferson County was added to the Greater Egypt | ||||||
| 19 | Region, and the Commission was re-established as the
Greater | ||||||
| 20 | Egypt Regional Planning and Development Commission (Greater | ||||||
| 21 | Egypt); and
| ||||||
| 22 | WHEREAS, Through her 50 years of service Mary Mitchell has | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | served in numerous capacities from Typist
to Program Director; | ||||||
| 2 | each role has allowed her to participate in the betterment of | ||||||
| 3 | the five
counties served by Greater Egypt, and over the course | ||||||
| 4 | of five decades, her commitment to her role in the
development | ||||||
| 5 | of the Greater Egypt Region has never faded; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Mary Mitchell's service to the region has assisted | ||||||
| 7 | in the completion of many important projects,
including | ||||||
| 8 | comprehensive plans, water quality, and economic development | ||||||
| 9 | plans, creation of industrial
parks, and the establishment and | ||||||
| 10 | administration of Enterprise Zones; these projects have | ||||||
| 11 | resulted in millions of dollars in investment and thousands of | ||||||
| 12 | jobs being created and
retained; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 14 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 15 | honor Mary M. "Margie" Mitchell for her service to the five | ||||||
| 16 | counties of
Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Perry, and | ||||||
| 17 | Williamson Counties, which comprise the Greater Egypt Regional
| ||||||
| 18 | Planning and Development Commission's District; and be it | ||||||
| 19 | further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to Mary Mitchell as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 22 | respect.
