| 2 | | WHEREAS, Annika Huprikar, a resident of Deerfield and a |
| 3 | | student at Alan B. Shepard Middle School, has achieved national |
| 4 | | recognition for exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 2016 |
| 5 | | Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious award honors young volunteers |
| 7 | | across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary |
| 8 | | commitment to serving their communities; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Annika Huprikar earned this award by giving |
| 10 | | generously of her time and energy; she worked with her brother |
| 11 | | to establish "Music is Medicine", a program that combines their |
| 12 | | deep passion for music with a desire to serve those who suffer |
| 13 | | from Alzheimer's disease and dementia; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Music therapy has been shown to assist Alzheimer's |
| 15 | | and dementia patients by creating a connection between music |
| 16 | | and memory; and

| 17 | | WHEREAS, "Music is Medicine" wishes to share the brighter |
| 18 | | side of life through the glory of music; and
