HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Betty A.
4Taylor of Canton, who passed away on April 30, 2016 at her home
5surrounded by family; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Betty Taylor was born on August 24, 1932 in Canton
7to Clifton and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick; she married Dr. Willison
8I. Taylor in 1964; and
 
9    WHEREAS, A lifelong Cantonian, Betty Taylor graduated from
10Canton High School, the Graham Hospital School of Nursing, and
11Western Illinois University; she worked as a nurse at
12Glenn-McGuire Clinic and Graham Hospital for 11 years and as a
13health teacher at Canton High School for 18 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Betty Taylor was heavily involved in the
15community; she served on the Spoon River College Board of
16Trustees for 20 years; she was an active member of her PEO, the
17Altruistic Club, the Friendship Festival Committee, the
18Community Concert Association, the Federated Business and
19Professional Women's Club, the Fulton/McDonough Mental Health
20Association Board, and the Canton Community Resources
21Committee; and

1    WHEREAS, Betty Taylor volunteered for many groups,
2including the YMCA, the Canton Lions Club Eye Clinic, the
3American Cancer Association, and the Illinois Heart
4Association; she was honored with the Canton YWCA Woman of
5Distinction Award in 2000; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Betty Taylor was preceded in death by her husband,
7Willison; her siblings, Eldon Kirkpatrick and Marilyn Mosher;
8and her stepson, Dr. Daniel Taylor; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Betty Taylor is survived by her daughter, Karen
10(John) Disharoon; her stepchildren, Nancy Randol and Gary
11(Cathy) Taylor; her grandchildren, Mary Mansker, Sue
12Carpentier, Ann Randol, Kelly Russell, Kristen Deweese, Jack
13Disharoon, and Taylor Disharoon; her 14 great-grandchildren;
14and her great great-grandchild; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Betty Taylor was a compassionate, loving mother,
16sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend and was tireless in her
17zeal to help others; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20mourn the passing of Betty A. Taylor and extend our sincere
21condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
22her; and be it further
