2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Betty A. |
4 | | Taylor of Canton, who passed away on April 30, 2016 at her home |
5 | | surrounded by family; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Betty Taylor was born on August 24, 1932 in Canton |
7 | | to Clifton and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick; she married Dr. Willison |
8 | | I. Taylor in 1964; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong Cantonian, Betty Taylor graduated from |
10 | | Canton High School, the Graham Hospital School of Nursing, and |
11 | | Western Illinois University; she worked as a nurse at |
12 | | Glenn-McGuire Clinic and Graham Hospital for 11 years and as a |
13 | | health teacher at Canton High School for 18 years; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Betty Taylor was heavily involved in the |
15 | | community; she served on the Spoon River College Board of |
16 | | Trustees for 20 years; she was an active member of her PEO, the |
17 | | Altruistic Club, the Friendship Festival Committee, the |
18 | | Community Concert Association, the Federated Business and |
19 | | Professional Women's Club, the Fulton/McDonough Mental Health |
20 | | Association Board, and the Canton Community Resources |
21 | | Committee; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Betty Taylor volunteered for many groups, |
2 | | including the YMCA, the Canton Lions Club Eye Clinic, the |
3 | | American Cancer Association, and the Illinois Heart |
4 | | Association; she was honored with the Canton YWCA Woman of |
5 | | Distinction Award in 2000; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Betty Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, |
7 | | Willison; her siblings, Eldon Kirkpatrick and Marilyn Mosher; |
8 | | and her stepson, Dr. Daniel Taylor; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Betty Taylor is survived by her daughter, Karen |
10 | | (John) Disharoon; her stepchildren, Nancy Randol and Gary |
11 | | (Cathy) Taylor; her grandchildren, Mary Mansker, Sue |
12 | | Carpentier, Ann Randol, Kelly Russell, Kristen Deweese, Jack |
13 | | Disharoon, and Taylor Disharoon; her 14 great-grandchildren; |
14 | | and her great great-grandchild; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Betty Taylor was a compassionate, loving mother, |
16 | | sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend and was tireless in her |
17 | | zeal to help others; therefore, be it
|
18 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
19 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
20 | | mourn the passing of Betty A. Taylor and extend our sincere |
21 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
22 | | her; and be it further
