HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the 125th anniversary of the 
4National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Branch 219 
5Aurora; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, NALC Branch 219 was founded on May 6, 1891 with 
7just 10 members and has grown to represent over 245 members 
8from Aurora, Montgomery, Yorkville, and Plano; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The members of NALC Branch 219 are devoted members 
10of their community; every second Saturday in May since 1992, 
11members of NALC Branch 219, as well as letter carriers 
12nationwide take part in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive; in 
13more than 10,000 cities and towns across the country 
14non-perishable food donations are collected and delivered to 
15community food banks, pantries, and shelters; in the last 15 
16years, more than $20 million dollars and one billion pounds of 
17food have been collected by letter carriers; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Since 1952, the Muscular Dystrophy Association 
19has been the national charity of the NALC; and
  
 
  
20    WHEREAS, The NALC was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 
211889 and is the sole representative of city delivery letter

1carriers employed by the United States Postal Service; members 
2are also members of the AFL-CIO; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
4NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that  we 
5recognize the 125th anniversary of the National Association of 
6Letter Carriers Branch 219 Aurora and we wish them many more 
7successful years; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to NALC Branch 219 as an expression of our esteem and 
10respect.
