HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the 40th anniversary of the 
4South Suburban Chicago Chapter (SSCC) of The Links, 
5Incorporated; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The SSCC was founded on June 6, 1976 in University 
7Park to identify the needs of adults and children in the South

8Suburban Chicago community and to address and serve these needs 
9by providing financial and
educational support and engagement 
10in social and civic awareness; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, The SSCC makes a sustaining and
transformational 
12difference in the South suburbs; as one of eight chapters in 
13the Chicago area, the
55 members serve through Five Program 
14Facets: Services to Youth, National Trends and
Services, Health 
15and Human Services, International Trends and Services and The 
16Arts; the
Facets symbolize the blueprint used to influence the 
17South Suburban Community; the
innovative and award-winning 
18programs, coupled with the vision, creativity, dedication and 
19hard
work of the members have a tremendous impact on the 
20communities served; and
  
 
  
21    WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated was founded over 65 years 
22ago as a women's volunteer service
organization committed to

1enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the cultural and economic

2survival of Africa Americans and other persons of African 
3ancestry; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Established by a circle of nine friends in 
5Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1946, The Links, Incorporated 
6now has over 12,000 members in 277 chapters located in 41 
7states, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of the 
8Bahamas, providing services that change lives; therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
11recognize the 40th anniversary of the South Suburban Chicago 
12Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and we wish them many more 
13years of success; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to the SSCC as an expression of our esteem and 
16respect.
