HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the 35th anniversary of 
4Illinois State University's ROTC Redbird Battalion program; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Redbird Battalion was founded in 1981; it now 
7has partnerships with Illinois Wesleyan (IWU) and Bradley 
8universities; there are currently 101 cadets, including 12 from 
9Bradley and four from IWU; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Redbird Battalion cadets are highly visible as 
11Color Guard during the Homecoming parade, or as participants in 
12Bloomington-Normal fundraisers, including the Polar Plunge, 
13the Relay for Life, and the We Care Half-Marathon; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, The current Redbird Battalion Commander is 
15Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Bender and the President is Dr. Larry 
16Dietz; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, 2016 is the 100th anniversary of the United States 
18Army Reserve Officer Training Corps; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, The Redbird Battalion will welcome back many of 
20its 400-plus alumni at a special 35th anniversary dinner on May

15, 2016 at the Hancock Stadium Club; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4recognize the 35th anniversary of the Illinois State 
5University's ROTC Redbird Battalion program and wish them many 
6more successful years; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the Redbird Battalion as a symbol of our respect 
9and esteem.
