| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Ronald J. Gunter on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as Director of the Westmont Park | ||||||
| 5 | District on May 31, 2016; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Ronald Gunter was hired by the Westmont Park | ||||||
| 7 | District on May 15, 1977 after graduating from George
Williams | ||||||
| 8 | College with a masters degree in park and recreation | ||||||
| 9 | administration; he spent 6 years working in the recreation | ||||||
| 10 | field to
help pay for college; he has worked nearly 40 years at | ||||||
| 11 | the Westmont Park District, 37 of those as Director; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, During Ronald Gunter's tenure, the District grew | ||||||
| 13 | significantly; when he began, there were three
parks and a | ||||||
| 14 | community center; since that time, the District has added 14 | ||||||
| 15 | neighborhood
parks, a 9-hole golf course, a fitness and | ||||||
| 16 | racquetball club, and a 36 acre community park; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Ronald Gunter has served the community as a | ||||||
| 18 | volunteer and coach; he has been a Rotarian for 32
years, a | ||||||
| 19 | Lions Club member for 36 years, a SEASPAR Board member for 20 | ||||||
| 20 | years, and a high
school basketball coach for 15 years; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Ronald Gunter has helped bring organizations, | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | municipal agencies, and service clubs together over
his 40 | ||||||
| 2 | years for the sole benefit of Westmont; he is a tireless | ||||||
| 3 | volunteer and advocate
for the community; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Ronald Gunter has served on numerous committees | ||||||
| 5 | throughout his years, including the 75th anniversary | ||||||
| 6 | committee,
the 100th anniversary committee, and the Promote | ||||||
| 7 | Westmont Commission; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Ronald Gunter was an active member of the Illinois | ||||||
| 9 | Park & Recreation Association early in his career; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Ronald Gunter received the Citizen of the Year | ||||||
| 11 | Award in 1988, 1996, and 2009; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Ronald Gunter plans to stay involved in the | ||||||
| 13 | community through his role as Mayor of
Westmont; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Ronald Gunter is husband to Antoinette "Toni"; | ||||||
| 15 | father to Brad and Natalie; and a grandfather; he has managed | ||||||
| 16 | to
remain hands-on and involved in all phases of family life, | ||||||
| 17 | especially with his grandkids,
while leading an incredibly | ||||||
| 18 | active career in Westmont; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, A retirement party will be held in Ronald Gunter's | ||||||
| 20 | honor on May 21, 2016; therefore, be it
| ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 2 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 3 | congratulate Ronald J. Gunter on his retirement as Director of | ||||||
| 4 | the Westmont Park District and we wish him the best in all his | ||||||
| 5 | future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to Ronald Gunter as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 8 | respect.
