HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Betsy Coulture of Elgin on 
4being named the 2016 Altrusa Woman of the Year; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The local Altrusa Woman of
the Year Award began in 
61950
when Harriet Armstrong was
recognized as the first 
7recipient; since then, a long line of
dedicated, local women 
8have
been honored for their volunteer
service to the greater

9Elgin area community; Altrusa International of
Elgin, Illinois 
10Inc., founded in 1936, is an international
service organization

11comprised of executive and
professional women; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Betsy Coulture has been actively
involved in a 
13variety of Elgin
organizations, including the
Elgin Community 
14Network,
the Northeast Neighbors Association, where she served 
15as President,
and the Elgin Historic
Preservation Commission; 
16she has been
an active member of Admirers
of Beautiful Old 
17Dwelling
in Elgin, a docent with the Gifford
Park Association's 
18Historic
House Tour, and a volunteer
with the Downtown

19Neighborhood Association,
the Elgin Fourth of July Parade,
the 
20Elgin Fox Trot, and the Community Thanksgiving
Dinner; and
 
21    WHEREAS, In 2012, Betsy Coulture received the "Women of 
22Grace & Dignity" True Grit award honoring
"Women in the

1Workplace"; and
  
 
2    WHEREAS, Betsy Coulture is a familiar smiling
face at 
3Paul's Family Restaurant
in Elgin, where she is
a well-known 
4and beloved
server on the early morning
shift; she attends 
5First Congregational Church of Elgin and enjoys gardening; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Betsy Coulture has two sons, Brandon
and David; a 
7daughter-in-law,
Kelly; and one grandson,
Carter "Peanut"; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Betsy Coulture will be honored at the 67th annual 
9Woman of the Year Recognition Dinner on May 19, 2016 at Villa 
10Olivia Country Club in Bartlett; therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
12NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
13congratulate Betsy Coulture on being named the 2016 Altrusa 
14Woman of the Year; and be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to Betsy Coulture as an expression of our esteem and 
17respect.
