| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Steve Mexin on the |
| 4 | | occasion of his retirement as Police Chief of the City of |
| 5 | | Geneva on May 6, 2016; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, After being hired as a Geneva patrol officer in |
| 7 | | 1989, Chief Mexin worked as a field training officer, field |
| 8 | | training co-coordinator, intern program coordinator, and |
| 9 | | member of the tactical response unit; he was appointed to serve |
| 10 | | as Police Chief in 2008; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, The Geneva Police Department has seen a great deal |
| 12 | | of change during Chief Mexin's administration,
including the |
| 13 | | department's leap into the digital age; paper police records |
| 14 | | dating back to the 1950s
were scanned for easier access, which |
| 15 | | provided more storage space; mobile data computers in the squad |
| 16 | | cars were
also upgraded and the department transitioned to an |
| 17 | | electronic booking process; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, During Chief Mexin's tenure, major crime in Geneva |
| 19 | | has decreased by 41% and theft has decreased by 36%; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Besides supervising the Police Department's 49 |
| 21 | | employees, Chief Mexin has said that building relationships
