| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize the career and dedication to | ||||||
| 4 | public safety of Addison Fire Protection District Chief, Donald | ||||||
| 5 | E. Markowski; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Chief Markowski has dedicated his career to public | ||||||
| 7 | safety and the firefighter profession; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Chief Markowski served over 26 years on the | ||||||
| 9 | Glenside Fire Protection District, including 12 years as Chief | ||||||
| 10 | Officer and three as Fire Chief; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Chief Markowski has served as the Chief Negotiator | ||||||
| 12 | for all labor contracts, representing both the fire district | ||||||
| 13 | and the union, always reaching agreements without the need for | ||||||
| 14 | mediation or arbitration; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Chief Markowski was elected to serve as President | ||||||
| 16 | of the Illinois Fire District Employee Cooperative Insurance | ||||||
| 17 | Program, which consists of ten fire districts and insures 455 | ||||||
| 18 | lives; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Chief Markowski has served as past President and | ||||||
| 20 | Vice-President of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | WHEREAS, In 2008, Chief Markowski became the Chief of the | ||||||
| 2 | Addison Fire Protection District, which protects over 41,000 | ||||||
| 3 | residents and employs a staff of 75; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Chief Markowski has worked diligently to protect | ||||||
| 5 | the residents of Addison Township, as well as the firefighters | ||||||
| 6 | who serve; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Chief Markowski will be retiring on June 1, 2016 | ||||||
| 8 | after a long and distinguished career dedicated to protecting | ||||||
| 9 | the lives and property of his neighbors; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Chief Markowski was awarded the Fire Chief of the | ||||||
| 11 | Year Award by the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association for 2016; | ||||||
| 12 | therefore, be it

| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 14 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 15 | recognize the career and dedication to public safety of Addison | ||||||
| 16 | Fire Protection District Chief, Donald E. Markowski; and be it | ||||||
| 17 | further

| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to Chief Markowski as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 20 | respect.
