HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ashley Jordan Borja of Plainfield, who passed away on May 5, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Ashley Borja was born to Laura (Baumann) and Dionicio "Joe' Borja on September 1, 1995; she graduated from Plainfield North High School in 2013 and attended Bradley University, where she was elected to the Student Senate and discovered an aptitude for mechanical engineering; for the 2015-16 school year, she was chosen for an internship at Caterpillar, Inc. in what was an extremely competitive contest among Bradley University engineering students; and

WHEREAS, On the Bradley University campus, Ashley Borja was active in Habitat for Humanity and helped represent Bradley in a recent Alternative Winter Break week-long Habitat project in New Orleans, Louisiana; and

WHEREAS, At home in Plainfield, she was a member of Community Christian Church of Plainfield, where she is remembered as one of the most active church volunteers in the children's ministry; her friends have testified to her deep membership in a living spiritual community; and

WHEREAS, Ashley Borja was a young woman of great promise; and

WHEREAS, Ashley Borja leaves behind her parents; her siblings, Aaron, Jonathan, Elise, Alexandra, and Delaney; her sister-in-law, Aveline; her grandparents; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and beloved friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ashley Jordan Borja, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ashley Borja as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
