HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Country Donuts in Crystal Lake is celebrating the 
340th anniversary of doing business in McHenry County; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Larry Swanson, Arthur Amling, and Ted Rood opened 
5Country Donuts on November 17, 1976; Scott Offord became a 
6partner in 1980; today, the independent donut shop is run by 
7Larry Swanson and Scott Offord; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Country Donuts offers about 30 varieties of 
9mouth-watering donuts made from the freshest ingredients; the 
10store also offers a variety of bagels, muffins, cookies, donut 
11holes, and beverages; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Country Donuts operates under the motto of "Serve 
13Fresh Donuts and Good Coffee in a Clean and Friendly 
14Environment"; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Larry Swanson and Scott Offord rely on old-school 
16baking techniques to create the highest quality products; no 
17automatic machines are ever used in the preparation of their 
18delicacies; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Country Donuts have always been bench-rolled and 
20hand-cut to allow for better dough rising; and

1    WHEREAS, The commitment to freshness, flavor, quality of 
2ingredients, and customer service has made Country Donuts the 
3most popular donut store in Crystal Lake; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Country Donuts is known regionally for their 
5pre-Lenten, six-day Paczki Celebration, which features 
6buttercream and custard, buttercream and black raspberry, and 
7buttercream and strawberry Paczkis for the six days prior to 
8Ash Wednesday; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Country Donuts is a multiple-year winner of the 
10local "Best of the Fox" competition for Best Donut Shop in the 
11region; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Country Donuts has been a proud member of the 
13Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce since 1976; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Country Donuts has provided jobs to a countless 
15number of teenage and older residents over the last 40 years; 
16and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Country Donuts is also known for exemplary 
18customer service; therefore, be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2congratulate Country Donuts of Crystal Lake on the occasion of 
3the 40th anniversary of the independent bakery and its 
4commitment to McHenry County and the people they serve; and be 
5it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Larry Swanson and Scott Offord as a symbol of our 
8respect and esteem.
