HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Jeffery Komada was a dedicated math teacher at
3William Howard Taft High School in Chicago for 30 years; he
4also served as the school's Director of Technology; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jeffery Komada was a loving husband to his wife
6Cathy and a doting and loving father to his daughters
7Jacqueline and Vanessa; and
 
8    WHEREAS, On a rainy Saturday, April 30, 2016, as Jeffery
9Komada was driving his Honda CRV on Interstate 94 near Touhy
10Avenue, he struck a Ford Windstar minivan that was stalled in
11traffic on the rain-slicked highway; a Volkswagen driven by a
1238 year-old woman who had her 4 year-old daughter in the car
13with her then hit the minivan; and
 
14    WHEREAS, After the accident, Jeffery Komada, in the finest
15traditions of a Good Samaritan, assisted the woman and her
16daughter who were in the Volkswagen by moving them into his CRV
17for safety; a semitrailer truck then struck all three vehicles;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jeffery Komada was standing outside his vehicle
20when the semitrailer truck hit the cars and died from injuries
21suffered from the impact; and

1    WHEREAS, Mark Grishaber, the principal of Taft High School,
2called Jeffery Komada's death a tremendous loss for the school
3and his students; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Richard Winge, president of the Taft High School
5Foundation, announced that Jeffery Komada would be inducted
6into the William Howard Taft Hall of Fame as part of the 2016
7class of inductees and said that the induction was a
8well-deserved honor; and
 
9    WHEREAS, It is fitting to recognize the selfless and
10generous service that Jeffery Komada gave to his students, to
11his school, and to those in need on that tragic day; therefore,
12be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
15mourn the passing of Jeffery Komada and extend our most sincere
16condolences to his wife and children and to his entire family
17on their loss; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Jeffery Komada as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
