HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize John Strugala as he prepares 
4to march in the American Veterans Center's National Memorial 
5Day Parade in Washington, D.C. on May 30, 2016; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, 25 years ago, U.S. Army Specialist John Strugala 
7of Spring Valley, was one of over 600,000 service members who 
8took part in Operation Desert Storm; he left friends and family 
9behind to serve the nation and secure a victory for freedom; 
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Strugala enlisted in 1988, serving with C 
12Battery, 3/82 Field Artillery, 1st Cavalry; he retired as a 
13Staff Sergeant in April of 2008 after 20 years of service; he 
14spent his whole military career as a firefighter; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, As the 25th anniversary approaches, John Strugala 
16and more than 500 other Operation Desert Storm veterans have 
17been invited to reunite and march in the National Memorial Day 
18Parade; and
  
 
  
19    WHEREAS, John Strugala is married to Renee, and they have 
20three kids, Raimey Heinze, Kyle Vogel, and Kierra Vogel; and

1    WHEREAS, John Strugala and other veterans are marching to 
2teach Americans about the service and sacrifice made by all 
3veterans of Operation Desert Storm; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6recognize John Strugala as he prepares to march in the American 
7Veterans Center's National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, 
8D.C. on May 30, 2016; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to John Strugala as an expression of our esteem and 
11respect.
