HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the 10th anniversary of 
4Ottawa firefighters, Dana Jennings and Tim Geiger, rescuing 
5Trista Margherio, from her burning house; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, On May 6, 2006, the Ottawa Fire Department 
7responded to a house fire at the Margherio home on Franklin 
8Street, where there was a report of a 3-year-old girl trapped 
9inside; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Upon entering the residence, Dana Jennings and Tim 
11Geiger were forced out by extreme heat conditions; once 
12outside, both firefighters reentered the structure through the 
13bedroom windows, where they located the victim; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, After pulling Trista Margherio from the burning 
15house and performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, Dana 
16Jennings and Tim Geiger transported her to Community Hospital 
17of Ottawa; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The actions of Dana Jennings and Tim Geiger 
19exemplify why Ottawa firefighters are considered some of the 
20best firefighters in the State; and

1    WHEREAS, Dana Jennings and Tim Geiger were each presented 
2with a Medal of Gallantry by Fire Chief Steve Haywood during 
3Illinois Firefighters Memorial Day ceremonies at the Ottawa 
4Fire Department; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7recognize the 10th anniversary of Ottawa firefighters, Dana 
8Jennings and Tim Geiger, rescuing Trista Margherio from her 
9burning house; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
11presented to Dana Jennings and Tim Geiger as a symbol of our 
12respect and esteem.
