| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Barbara |
| 4 | | J. "Bubbles" Lewis, who passed away on May 18, 2016; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Lewis was born in Chicago to John and |
| 6 | | Carrie Bell Scarborough on December 31, 1947; she attended |
| 7 | | Chicago public schools and Open Door Baptist Church, where she |
| 8 | | sang with the renowned gospel choir, The Thompson Community |
| 9 | | Choir, the "Tommies"; she later started her own singing group; |
| 10 | | she married Lovett Overstreet; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Lewis earned a business degree from |
| 12 | | Catherine College; she began working at the University of |
| 13 | | Illinois Hospital and then at the West Suburban Kidney Center |
| 14 | | as a physician biller; she received several awards and |
| 15 | | accolades for her efficiency,
professionalism, dedication, and |
| 16 | | tenacity of providing quality service; she became known as |
| 17 | | "Inspector Barbara" because she was a perfectionist and a |
| 18 | | problem solver; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Lewis later married Thaddeus Lewis and |
| 20 | | moved to Calumet City; she traveled extensively, visiting |
| 21 | | destinations such as New Orleans, New York, Los
Angeles, |
| 22 | | Hawaii, Mexico, the Bahamas, and Florida; she also enjoyed |
