HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Barbara 
4J. "Bubbles" Lewis, who passed away on May 18, 2016; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Lewis was born in Chicago to John and 
6Carrie Bell Scarborough on December 31, 1947; she attended 
7Chicago public schools and Open Door Baptist Church, where she 
8sang with the renowned gospel choir, The Thompson Community 
9Choir, the "Tommies"; she later started her own singing group; 
10she married Lovett Overstreet; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Barbara Lewis earned a business degree from 
12Catherine College; she began working at the University of 
13Illinois Hospital and then at the West Suburban Kidney Center 
14as a physician biller; she received several awards and 
15accolades for her efficiency,
professionalism, dedication, and 
16tenacity of providing quality service; she became known as 
17"Inspector Barbara" because she was a perfectionist and a 
18problem solver; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Barbara Lewis later married Thaddeus Lewis and 
20moved to Calumet City; she traveled extensively, visiting 
21destinations such as  New Orleans, New York, Los
Angeles, 
22Hawaii, Mexico, the Bahamas, and Florida; she also enjoyed

1throwing fabulous parties; therefore, be it
  
 

  
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4mourn the passing of Barbara J. "Bubbles" Lewis, and extend our 
5sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew 
6and loved her; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to  the family of  Barbara Lewis as an expression of 
9our deepest sympathy.
